PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.
•Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
•Oversees the return to work and fit for duty programs by performing medical screens, assessments and on-going monitoring as required;
•Assists in short term and long term disability case management working with the third party disability insurance vendor representative to facilitate a safe and early return to work; tracking of disability statistics
•Reviews restrictions and limitations and assists in identifying work placements and position modifications in consultation with management and Human Resources;
•Coordinates return to work plans in collaboration with management and the third party disability insurance vendor;
•Works with Health and Safety department and WCB Specialist regarding case management and occupational injury investigations as required;
•Provides first aid and medical management to ill and injured employees;
•Provides information to employees regarding identified health matters;?????
•Researches and facilitates preventive education for both occupational and non-occupational injuries/illness to employees;
•Provides disability case chronology to management and Human Resources as requested;
•Collects and assesses statistical data (ie. incidents of illness, injury) to identify trends and generate monthly reports for the distribution to management and Human Resources;
•Maintains accurate confidential employee medical records;
•Recommends changes to Disability and Benefits related policies, procedures and guidelines as needed;
•Shares best practices across functions to facilitate continuous improvement;
•Participates in and supports HR, Disability and EHS initiatives as required;
•Maintains a balance with company objectives while ensuring the confidentiality of employee medical information;
•Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

Occupational Health Nursing Certificate (OHNC)

•Registration with College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta
•Occupational Health Nurse Certificate (OHNC Preferred)
•Valid Class 5 Driver License - 30% travel required
•Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Preferred)
•Basic Cardiac Life Support (Mandatory)
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Good listening skills and proven ability to interact with all levels in the organization
•Ability to work in a flexible work environment with minimal supervision and direction?
•Ability to prioritize and problem solve
•Ability to travel as needed
•Computer proficiency in MS Office
•Knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Legislation, WCB, and Human Rights Code
•Understanding and continued compliance with all legislated Health Care Acts
•Requires sitting, acuity, speaking and listening
•Requires standing, grasping, and reaching
•Requires walking, climbing stairs, stooping and crouching
•Requires lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying up to 5lbs
